I’m wondering if I’ll be able to catch up with only a few days left. Looking at the clock, I realize it’s 1:00 am Monday morning. It’s been quite a few hectic weeks, as I recently bought my first home! All my free time has been spent with the mortgage broker, on the phone with the lawyer and utility companies, getting insurance, painting, deciding what needs to be renovated and so on.
So I’ll keep making every effort to have the assignments done by April 30th…

I’m really glad that the warm weather has arrived – I was beginning to think I needed to book a trip to Waikiki beach!
It was extremely interesting to review the Library Success: Best Practices Wiki. The amount of information is considerable and the topics detailed is quite diverse. Of course, there is quite a lot of information that can still be added to various topics, such as Books or Library Programming. Truly, the amount of topics and information is almost endless, especially as the world of libraries continues to evolve.
The convention that I am a committee member of has a Wiki page on Wikipedia. You can find it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polaris_%28convention%29 , under the entry Polaris (Convention). The information so far entered is a work in progress, as at the moment it details only the history and some basic details of what the convention offers. There is so much opportunity for the addition of in-depth programming, photos of past guests and events, additional links and much more. As members of the convention committee are all volunteers, time dedicated to the convention has its priorities, especially as the convention weekend nears!

RSS feeds is one area that is new to me, as I have many of my favourite sites bookmarked and tend to check the latest updates that way. So it was interesting to go to some of those sites and discover whether or not they offered RSS feeds. Remarkably, there were some I thought would for sure but they didn’t. Or else the option was so well hidden that searching made it difficult to find on the site!
I subscribed to the CBC’s “Top news stories”; “Library Link of the Day”; HPL’s “What You Need To Know”; Unshelved, a hilarious online comic about library life; and of course, as a sci-fi junkie, I also added one for Sci Fi.com which keeps me uptodate about all the latest in the world of science fiction media.

…do you think I can catch up? I realize I’m terribly behind but between life, work and fighting off a nasty cold and flu for two weeks, I am finally trying to ensure that I try my hand at the various activities. So off I go!

Blogs are nothing new to me – I have a couple of personal ones on other sites. It is interesting to see what various blog sites have to offer, in terms of layout, photo and memory capabilities, limits as to who can and cannot read your blog, etcetera. As I haven’t had one with WordPress before, it will be a fun adventure.
So why did I name my blog “Space Time Continuum”? If you know me fairly well, then you know I’m a big admirer of science fiction and fantasy media. When I think back, I have been since a very young age. My brother and I would watch every new program that offered science fiction elements, even managing to coerce our parents to watch, with mixed results! We grew up on Star Wars and Star Trek, Shazam! and Wonder Woman, just to name a few.
This love of science fiction and fantasy led me into other avenues as I became an adult but I believe I’ll discuss that in my next post.
